SALON TBILISI BERLIN (since 2010)

Salon Tbilisi Berlin is a literature performance project between female authors and artists from both cities which was created by Mareike Wenzel in 2010. The frame of this project is the Georgian Supra – banquet-  and the toasts, raised by the tamada – toastmaster. Inspired by this Georgian tradition, twice a year female authors from Tbilisi and Berlin wrote texts based on the topics of the different Georgian toasts. The texts were then translated into the other language and presented during a supra performance which took place at various venues in Berlin and Tbilisi. The topics were presented through the written texts and in immersive performance parts. The Salon wants to explore new female voices from Georgia and Germany and draw a picture of both countries from a female perspective.

Supra performances on the following topics took place: Meetings, Encounters, Home, Family, Future, Death, What if, Beginnings took place in different venues in Berlin and Tbilisi such as: Literature Museum Tbilisi, Kunstpunkt Galerie Berlin, Frontline Café Tbilisi, Bethanien Berlin, Silkmuseum Berlin and others
